Highlands and Island Tour a success
The girls completed their successful Highlands and Island Tour in June. Several of the concerts sold out and the band experienced great hospitality and welcoming audiences wherever they performed. Thanks to Highlands and Islands Enterprise and MacMeanmna for their sponsorship which made the tour possible. Special thanks to all those who looked after the band on their travels, especially: Arthur and Shona Cormack, Uisdean & Ann Robertson, Isa Matheson, Angusina MacDonald, Janette Mackay, the Houston Family, Dennis Manson and Brian O hEadhra. Extra special thanks to Robert and Nicola for saving Julie’s life with petrol.
Dochas appeared at the Kilkenny Arts Festival, which was great craic - thank you to the Festival Committee for all your help and hospitality (especially for the pillows)! Kathleen is still recovering from the whole affair - 5 airports in 24 hours!
The girls are looking forward to a busy September with performances in Skye, Glenelg, Nottingham, Jura and Memphis and the Scottish Traditional Music Awards Ceremony in Edinburgh. Just announced are two double bill gigs with exciting Irish band Slide in Sabhal Mor Ostaig, to celebrate the visit of Irish President Mary McAleese to deliver the annual UHI Millennium Institute Lecture on Monday 15th September, with a public concert to follow on the evening of Tuesday 16th September.
