Summer is here
We’re just back from sunny England where we were headlining the 25th Wimborne Folk Festival and performing at the Swaledale Festival in Yorkshire. Set in a beautiful church in the Yorkshire Dales, Dòchas performed an acoustic set of instrumentals and songs and were delighted to be joined by Eamon Doorley on bouzouki. The next morning we were treated to the very best full Irish breakfast - not only is Eamon a great musician, he’s also great chef! Back on the road and 6 hours later we arrived in Wimborne.
After getting used to the sudden rise in temperature, Dòchas were on form for a great night, and so it was, a great concert including great Irish fiddler, Gerry O’Connor and his band. Dòchas took to the stage to finish the night off. We then headed back to the hotel where the session was in full flight, Michael McGoldricks band, Aaron Jones and Clare Mann and lots more…..
Up the following morning for some workshops and then a 3 hour lunch in the gorgeous sunny weather - bliss!
That night we had the pleasure of going to the gig, and it was well worth it, McGoldricks band were on great form and had a surprise guest in the form of a belly dancer! Then it was back to the hotel for more tunes and songs and a lot of fun!
Big thanks to Les and Linda at Wimborne and the Swaledale festival
- a great way to start the summer!
